We are all familiar with the huge impact of Internet, Social Media and all technologic supplies. The sky is the limit, especially the last 10 years! All information is available and we can search for anything you can imagine!

This comes along with gathering relevant and huge amount of information from each and every individual using the web. (so thats means everybody i guess..) And of course we expect that our e-mails, details and favorites will be safely preserved. This is not kept as many think “in the clouds”, no it’s raining and data is coming down!

I’m talking about physical, better said touchable data storage on our earth. This is where the Internet lives! Schermafbeelding 2013-01-13 om 13.18.49

Recently Google gives us a look behind the scenes in their highly secure and ultra modern storage, transparent to the world and also pretty cool to see! (take a look). And of course Google is not the only one. I speak about large areas, ultra security and modern buildings that are chancing the landscape, as we know now and will conquer.

As we speak in Quincy, USA. No robust harvest of apples, potatoes, cherries and beans anymore, but the taking over of hightec datafarm. Microsoft and Yahoo is settled their data storage in this town. There is plenty of space and growth opportunities in Quincy and for the farmers server farm could be a real “cash crop”. Also it’s allowing the megacorporations to strike their move.

One thing is for sure, it is a “life changing web”! Questions will be asked, what is the possible “hidden” damage and the future of the countryside as we know it by know? What about the energy use and sustainability? Should we think more step ahead? I wonder what the future will be of storing gigantic data this way, what do u think?
